This is one of our “upgraded fences” as we call them. On the top of the fence is a triple crown. The type of fence you are looking at is a board on board fence. Most of the fences you will see are board on board. It does not cost a whole lot more, and its really worth it, especially if you want privacy. Even if a side by side fence has no cracks between the boards initially, over time the boards will move due to rain, snow, heat etc, and cracks will appear. So basically with a board on board, we put another cedar wood board on top of every two where a crack might form, and that is why it is called a board on board. This really will add to the value of your home, and if you intend on selling your home one day, will actually increase the value of your property.


Do you want to know what those decorative things are on the top of the fence? Those are called corbels, and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can see them pretty much everywhere from above fireplace mantles to under countertops in a kitchen. But ours are wood, because well, they go on a wood fence. Adding these really accentuates the beauty of your fence and puts the final touch on things.


Stain is important as well. This particular type of stain in this picture is “medium brown.” Sometimes the color will come out a little differently depending on the climate conditions when it is applied, and the type of wood, but generally the stain should come out as we tell you it will. We can give you some sample colors so you can pick and choose, finding the color that best appeals to you. Remember its not just a color, stain also helps protect your fence.
