Plano is really two different cities when it comes to fencing. Established neighborhoods in East Plano and near Prestonwood often have older wood fences from the '80s and '90s that need full replacement rather than repair, with lot layouts that weren't built to current code setbacks. Out near Legacy West and West Plano, it's mostly newer construction with strict HOA design committees that review material, height and color before anything goes up.
We submit HOA paperwork ahead of time for Legacy West and Willow Bend projects so there's no delay once we're ready to build, and for older East Plano lots we check existing fence lines and easements carefully since property corners have sometimes shifted from the original survey. Murphy-area properties tend to run larger, so we plan material counts accordingly to avoid delays mid-project.
In East Plano, that often means a full fence-line replacement after an original 1980s wood fence fails at the posts — surveying the property corners, confirming the easement line with the city, then installing a new cedar privacy fence with steel posts for extra stability. In Legacy West, it's more often an HOA-approved aluminum fence around a pool area, with the design packet submitted ahead of time to avoid delays.
